The ‘Offing’ silver beaker is made by hammer forming the initial shape from flat sheet silver using hammering techniques that have been in use for millennia. Once the vessel shape is complete it is filled with a pitch substance and the pattern is applied to the surface using various textured hammers.

The design of the vessel represents the sunlight on a calm sea . The vessel would be lovely as a vase for a posy of flowers from the garden or a small drinking vessel.
